It was back in 2021, when COVID entered our lives and we dealt with isolation, loss and grief as a community. It was that time I realised that more than ever we need to come together and look after each other. To do my bit, I started writing letters to total strangers. I would not charge anything, I brought nice vintage looking letter pads, envelopes, started sharing about it on social media and so many people started to respond.
People said what I am getting out of it, why am I doing this. The answer was simple, first to bring back the joy of writing letters and second to make that person feel less lonely in this mad crazy world. I was in India that time when I sent over 120 letters and then I moved to the UK and switched to sending emails. But something didn’t feel right, I didn’t feel I am helping enough, so I am coming back with posting hand-written letters to the UK residents.
