With this quote and with this thought, do what you feel is right, knowing your capacities, your capabilities. How to be successful in life? Define success in your own way. Identifying your purpose in life and by following your passion. You cannot live somebody else conviction, you have to make yours and live yours. You have to travel the path you have chosen for yourself and you might be left alone on the way but that could be your test.
2.) Define your goals
“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” ― Henry David Thoreau
Goals give us a vision, a deadline. A definition of our desires and dreams. When we set realistic and achievable goals we add meaning to our life. Now while defining goals we must consider all the factors affecting and influencing your goals, it should not be just a goal which you set today because you want to do something, it should be a well-thought process you must be willing to go.
3.) Have a vision board
“For 20 minutes, write whatever comes to mind describing what your life would look like five years from today if you had become your best self and all your dreams were realized.” ― Wendy Ulrich
How to be successful in life? Have a vision board. Having a vision board is like visualizing your goals, giving them shape and size in reality. When you establish a vision board and physically set it up at a place where you often see it, it keeps you closer to your goals. It reminds you to work on your goals and gets you a step closer to success.
4.) Start small but be consistent
“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.” ― Anthony Robbins
Consistency is the key to greater success in the long-run, it is like those seeds you sow daily which grow as a fruit-bearing tree in the long-run with continuous nourishment and care. Start small, take one step at a time but be consistent with your goals.
5.) Do not be afraid of failing
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” ― Thomas A. Edison
A life-saving quote, isn’t it? When you fail or fall thousand times, if you see it from a different perspective you will observe that you are aware of what all could go wrong in the process and it somehow changes your approach. When you try for the 1001st time now, you recall all the 1000 times you failed, and whether you succeed or not you know what worked and what doesn’t work.

6.) Do not challenge your own dreams
“What is considered impossible is someone else’s opinion. What is possible is my decision.”― idowu koyenikan
And this is how you must go about your life. We often question our firm beliefs and challenge our own dreams, this only makes us shaky and less confident to continue to our journey. Question your dreams but do not challenge them, own them, and work on them.
7.) Come out of procrastination and get into action
“Procrastination is the thief of time, collar him.” ― Charles Dickens
It surely is, procrastination somehow binds you in so many ways, it ties you with your thoughts and you leave everything to tomorrow, what if tomorrow never comes? Will it be ok for you to leave this world having things undone that you could have done instead of sitting on it? Think about it, you got the power.
8.) Stick to your passion
“If you have a strong purpose in life, you don’t have to be pushed. Your passion will drive you there.”― Roy T. Bennett
How to be successful in life? Stick to your absolute passion. When you are really passionate about your dreams, your goals, you need not worry, your passion will wake you up every freaking morning, you will not want to waste a single minute on things that don’t need your attention, you will not be afraid of slogging and working day and night to achieve success.
9.) Seek a purpose in life
“Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.” ― Roy T. Bennett
You identify your passion and then you find your purpose and stick to it, having a passion-driven purpose in life will bring you a step closer to your goals every time you step inside them. After defining your goals, work on them, and work it your way, you will succeed in whatever you do.
10.) Be open to learn
“Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” –Thomas Huxley
How to be successful in life? By being a student of life. Tried and tested the formula. The more you are willing to learn the greater wisdom you acquire, the greater wisdom you acquire, the more knowledgable you become, and hence you open the end number of doors for yourself to explore and you somehow transcend into a never-dying and free-flow energy.
11.) Upgrade yourselves
“We call you uneducated when you have 50-5000 friends on Facebook and you are still broke”― Mac Duke The Strategist
This quote just hit me when I had read this, it reminded me of a phrase we had rad in Economics during my MBA. Opportunity cost is an opportunity lost. We must continuously upgrade ourselves, if a goal doesn’t get fulfilled if the path we chose for ourselves lead you to unfulfillment, will you stop dreaming a new dream? Will you stop setting a new goal? Ideally no, this continuation in upgrades helps you to try things you never tried before.
12.) Don’t be age/time-constrained
“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”– Mark Twain
How to be successful in life? Do not be age or time-constrained. There is no defined age for success and no time, less or more to achieve them. What you need to do is to thrive continuously to succeed and it will come to you when you are ready to handle it.
13.) Always have a diary/notebook/journal
“Keep a diary, and someday it’ll keep you.” –Mae West
Having a mental note of everything could be exhausting and after a while, you forget things. So having a diary and practice of maintaining a journal will imbibe a sense of discipline in you. Keeping a diary helps you to stay connected with your daily schedule, to-do list, and important tasks you do or could do daily.
14.) Monitor your goals
“By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands—your own.” —Mark Victor Hansen
How to become successful in life? By setting goals and monitoring them. When you monitor your goals, you know how far you have come and what all you have faced in the process, when you monitor your goals you understand your goals more clearly. it helps you to filter our un-resourceful tasks and stick to things that could past pace your journey towards your goals.
15.) Have a thorough check on your ideation of goals
“If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy and inspires your hopes.” —Andrew Carnegie
Set a goal that energizes you, that kicks out the most useful and resourceful version of yourself and puts it to work. Have a complete check on goals before putting it into action, if it is achievable, measurable, quantifiable, and realistic or not, if you have the slightest of doubt then re-work on your goals, it will help you.
16.) Get rid of self-limiting beliefs
“Examine your beliefs and break free.”― Maria Erving
The only distance you need to travel between you and success is the milestones of your limiting beliefs you have been carrying with you. These limiting beliefs are nothing but a hindrance in your way that makes you doubt yourself and takes you away from your goals. Get rid of any belief that holds you back, only you can do that.
17.) Avoid content overload
“Never let anyone or anything distract you from noticing how amazing you are.” —Edmond Mbiaka
With the advent of social media and infinite scrolling, we have very easy access to other’s lives, and we are exposed to a lot of content, we somehow tend to compare ourselves with them and what we see are their success story and our struggles. It only makes us anxious, has a time-out, filters out the content, and sticks to things which make you even more passionate about your work.
18.) Practice gratitude
“Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.” – Amy Collette
How to be successful in life? By practicing gratitude, gratitude changes everything. It helps you to count your blessing and look at the brighter side. You may not experience the magic of being grateful eventually but gradually once you make it a habit you will never stop being grateful for even the biggest setback you face in your life. It has immense power.
19.) Be original
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”― Oscar Wilde
The sweetest explanation one can ever get. Yes, be you, be original and be authentic, everyone else is taken. There is none like you because your thoughts, your ideas, and your mind is your copyright. Preserve it and use it for your own good, success will be yours.
20.) Don’t follow the rat-race
“The trouble with being in the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat.” ― Lily Tomlin
And who wants to be a rat? In a world full of plagiarism, copycats, and idea thieves, be your own version. Be invincible and unstoppable by creating a unique identity, following your own convictions, and being firm on your life rules. You should be capable enough to measure your success, to work hard and if required re-work your goals, but never ever follow the rat race, and avoid all the noise surrounding you.
To conclude, I would say that life is full of uncertainties and yet we all thrive daily to make it worth it. How to be successful in life? By getting up and showing up daily, by making optimum use of the 24 hours deposited in our life bank daily. By being grateful for being alive and being capable of making life work for us. Rise Up!
