Brave Inked Emotions anthology was released in March 2026, it features 36 contributing Indian authors from around the world, each sharing candid personal stories intended to serve as an emotional anchor and guide for readers. It is not merely a collection of stories; it is a gathering of lived experiences, silent battles, difficult choices, losses and remarkable acts of courage.
I feel deeply connected to this book being one of its authors who crafted the 6th chapter, “Antah Asti Prarambh”. When Roma Gupta Sinha, the heart and soul behind this book, first approached me to contribute, I hesitated. I remember staring at a blank document, wondering what I should write, how much I should let out through my pen and where I should draw the line. I worried about how heavy my story might feel for a reader. Would it be too much? Too raw? Too personal? Should I soften the edges or keep some parts hidden? But once I started writing, I couldn’t stop. The words started to flow and story got easier to share, as I was deeply reflecting on my life, while writing it simultaneously.

When I began reading stories for helping with proof-reading, and as I moved from one chapter to the next, I felt a quiet sense of relief settling in me. I realised, I was not alone in my uncertainty. Other authors had also wrestled with doubt, how much to reveal, how honest to be and whether their stories mattered. Seeing their courage on the page made me feel that I had done the right thing by not holding back. I love how diverse the anthology came out to be, the stories do not follow one definition of pain or healing, it flows from one chapter to another. One author writes about rebuilding life after critical illness, one after going through separation and abandonment. Another reflects on growing up unwanted and learning to claim her worth in a family that tried to limit her dreams. There are stories of parenting children with complex emotional and developmental needs, of navigating postpartum depression, of grieving a parent, of living with disability, and of confronting the complicated realities of life, marriage and motherhood.
Each chapter opens a different window into a person’s life. Some stories are raw and unsettling, some are tender and reflective and others carry humour, hope and unexpected wisdom. This anthology remind me that people are always more than what we see from the outside and the honesty of these stories has stayed with me. None of the authors tries to present a perfectly polished version of life. There is vulnerability, contradiction, regret and uncertainty. There are moments when the writers admit that they did not know what to do, that they felt afraid, that they needed help, or that healing took much longer than they expected. This honesty gives the anthology its emotional power. It does not romanticise suffering; instead, it shows how people make meaning from what they have endured.
I am fortunate to know some of the contributors personally, in some cases for many years. Reading their stories brought a different kind of emotion because I was not encountering strangers on the page. I was meeting familiar people in a new way. Their stories made me realise that we often know people, but not always the full weight of what they have carried. We may know their achievements without knowing the nights they spent doubting themselves. We may admire their confidence without seeing the years it took to rebuild it. We may celebrate their success without understanding the losses, sacrifices and private decisions that made it possible. This is perhaps my greatest learning from being a part of this anthology: every life contains unseen chapters. Every person is living a story that may include pain we have never been told about. I found myself learning something different from each chapter. One story reminded me that an ending can become the beginning of another life. Another showed me that self-respect sometimes requires standing alone. The reflections on motherhood revealed how easily women’s emotional needs are forgotten when everyone focuses on the child.

As a co-author, I entered this book with the hope that my story might offer someone comfort or courage. But as a reader of the other chapters, I received far more than I expected. Brave Inked Emotions is an emotional landscape shaped by many voices. Its power lies in the differences between the stories, as well as in the quiet thread connecting them: the human desire to be heard, understood and accepted. I feel proud to be part of this anthology, but more than pride, I feel grateful. Grateful to Roma for envisioning this space and inviting us to share our truths. Grateful to the authors for trusting readers with their stories. Grateful for the courage it takes to revisit painful memories and transform them into words. And grateful for the opportunity to know people not only through who they are today, but through everything they have lived, survived and become.
Brave Inked Emotions is my 4th anthology in my writing career and the chapter I have contributed speaks about inner strength, self-belief and nurturing the person that needs you the most – YOU. Brave Inked Emotions is available on Amazon worldwide, grab your copy now and share with others 🙂
