What Is A Vision Board and How to Create One?

In this blog, I am going to talk about my “Vision Board” for 2022. What is a vision board and why should you have one? We all set goals, but we lack the eye, the details and the way forward.

As many of you know I am a certified NLP practitioner, Yesterday in our NLP meetup session, we did a super fun and engaging activity under the guidance of our mentor Mr Sriram and it came out to be such a refreshing thing to do.

He walked us through the process of visualization and helped us identify what exactly we can make out of our coming times. This activity was not only engaging and productive but it also helped me to get closer to all my vivid thoughts, and I was also able to comprehend and reconcile all my scattered thoughts…So here’s to a super productive, motivating, powerful and mindblowing 2022. (At least this is what I thrive for)

Vision Board 2022

What is a vision board?

A vision board is also known as a dream board, is often a pictorial compilation of your thoughts and dreams. We are no experts in interpreting our dreams and future, but we can certainly capture them and try to reach towards them.

In this process, we were asked to close our eyes and imagine everything we want to achieve in near future. Without being judgemental, leaving aside all the self-doubts and hesitation, just to go with the flow, and try to unlock the limitless and abundant possibilities.

Just like a movie screen, or a photo album, we were guided to capture all the achievements and attainment, even the minutest details. In the end, what is the vision board if it cannot capture our visions, dreams and aspirations?

How to create a vision board?

To create a vision board, you will need a few colourful magazines, newspapers, A4 size sheets, scissors, glue, sketch pens, colours, decorative items of your choice. You can just sit with ample of creative options so that once you are done with the process of visualization you can capture them in the most beautiful way.

I used an A4 size sheet since I didn’t have chart paper at that time. I used magazines to capture exact wording I saw in my vision, exact statements and quotes that would remind me of my dreams and goals.

You can exactly do the same, as soon as you are done visualization of your life ahead, you are expected to capture those moments in the form of words, images and statements and put them across the sheet or chart paper.

Make it as colourful and vibrant as possible and stick it somewhere you can access it often. Hang it or paste it in front of your work desk, living area, so that you can see it more often and stay closer to your dreams.

Remember, dreams don’t work, until you work on them. The aim of walking you all through this process of creating a vision board is just to help you stay focused and filter out what you exactly want in your life. Many of us lack that basic focus and purpose in life, so if you’re able to capture some purpose out of your life, you can definitely add meaning to it.

I wish that whoever is reading this post defines and sets a vision board for themselves, be as realistic as possible, touch your dreams, feel them and go grab them 👊
